The Scottish Government is currently undertaking a National Review of Town Centres with the purpose of considering and developing new approaches towards the regeneration of town centres and high streets across the country.

The Review, which is being carried out in in five distinct phases over 2012-13, is being developed by an External Advisory Group of cross-sector stakeholders. The Advisory Group, which includes SURF Chief Executive Andy Milne, is chaired by leading architect Malcolm Fraser.

This week’s edition of New Start Magazine features an interview with Malcolm in which he provides a progress update on the Review of Town Centres and highlights the diverging policy approaches to town centre development in Scotland and England.
