Poverty and inequality are the greatest challenges Scotland faces. The Poverty Alliance is working hard to show how they can change the debate about, and ultimately solve, poverty. An opportunity has arisen to join the team and help  achieve their vision of a Scotland without poverty:

Post: Communications Officer (CO20)

Salary: £31,431 per annum, plus 6% pension, 28 hours per week, (pro rata, until March 2023)

They are looking for an experienced Communications Officer who is able to help us re-shape the narrative about poverty in Scotland.

This post will be responsible for helping to increase the visibility of the Poverty Alliance’s key messages and activities. They are looking for someone who can support their members and community organisations to get their voices and stories into the media, particularly as part of our Challenge Poverty Week initiative.

The successful candidate will join the Poverty Alliance’s policy and campaigns team, and will provide communications support for a wide range of activities. You will have experience of communicating complex social justice issues to diverse audiences. In particular you will have experience of working with community groups and individuals with little or no media experience.  You’ll understand the importance of digital as well as traditional communication strategies, and how these can be used to support social change.
